I bought this for my boyfriend to wear while he rides his bike in NYC during the winter. He loves it. It is thin enough to fit under his bike helmet, it warm, and is comfortable to breathe in.

I already owned the Seirus Innovation Balaclava (which I have reviewed on Amazon), which is all fleece and great for running, but wanted something that was waterproof and windproof for activities like snowshoeing and skiing. This product is excellent.
The interior is a warm, comfortable fleece that will not irritate your skin. The exterior is a waterproof, windproof shell that has an opening for your nose and vent holes for your mouth. If you wear a pair of ski goggles, no skin will be exposed on your face in frostbite conditions.
Also, except in the most extreme conditions (sub-zero temperatures) you will not need a hood or hat to stay warm (unlike the less expensive Innovation Balaclava, where I usually wear a light hood on top once the temperature goes below 20 F).
I have also gone running with this, though for running I prefer a balaclava without the nose vent and vent holes for the mouth. The reason is that my breathing is heavier when I run, and I suck in more air than in other winter activities. I like that air to be warm when it enters my lungs (less drain on my energy), and therefore do not like vent holes. However, that is a personal preference.
Although my ski hat size is a medium, I ordered the large/extra large size of this product, which tends to run small (I learned this from ordering the other Seirus balaclava), and that size fits me perfectly. Unless you have a really small head, don’t order anything smaller.
Bottom line: This is a great ski mask (and I have tried lots over the years). It is comfortable to wear and will keep you warm.

The vents on the mouth and nose are too cold for my bike ride in MI and it doesn’t work well with my helmet. I was hoping it would work well under a helmet. I’ll use it for cross country skiing.

I bought this product on a ski trip (paid $50 for it) and it was an absolute lifesaver. Worn with a pair of goggles, it provides complete coverage for your face to protect against cold and wind. Plus, the material is thin enough that you can still wear your normal helmet, goggles, etc, without having to adjust them. I would highly recommend this to anyone

It’s comfortable and keeps your head, face and neck nice and worm when your on the slopes. It works best when worn under a helmet and goggles. The nose and mouth cutout makes it easy to breathe and it keeps the moisture away. The only con is that it only comes in 2 sizes S/M and L/XL so as you can imagine it’s almost impossible to make it fit just right on your face.
